Introducing LeptisDwa: A New Way for Libyans to Find and Share Medicine

At LeptisCode, we build software. But every so often a problem crosses our path that we can't just watch from the sidelines, and medicine shortages in Libya is one of them.

Across the country, it's a familiar scene: someone drives from pharmacy to pharmacy looking for a medication that's simply out of stock, while somewhere nearby, a family has the exact same box sitting unused in a cabinet. The medicine exists, it just isn't reaching the people who need it.

That's the gap LeptisDwa was built to close.

What is LeptisDwa?

LeptisDwa is a bilingual medicine-sharing platform built for Libya. It connects people who have spare or unneeded medicine with people who urgently need it, in both Arabic and English.

Anyone can list medicine they no longer need, request medicine they can't find, or offer to donate or buy it on someone else's behalf. Charities and organisations can claim open requests and mark them fulfilled. Contact details are only shared once both sides agree, so the exchange stays safe and direct.

Why we built it

This isn't a commercial product for us. LeptisDwa is completely free to use, and it always will be. We built it because we believe technology should do more than make businesses more efficient; it should make communities stronger.

The idea is simple: reduce medicine waste, ease shortages, and make it easier for Libyans to help each other access the treatment they need.
